We're delighted that you are considering visiting us! Below you'll find essential information to help make your experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
Studio Etiquette and Policies
1. Jewelry Costs
Titanium: $40+
Gold Jewelry: $95+
With hundreds of options available in both of our studios, please bear in mind that the cost of jewelry ranges quite a bit based on the materials and complexity of any particular piece. When you are selecting jewelry for your piercing, your jewelry specialist will always inform you of the pricing for any pieces you may be considering. (Please note that service costs are separate from jewelry costs).
2. Do You Take Walk-Ins?
All services, including jewelry purchasing, viewing, and changing, are available by appointment. We will accommodate a walk-in whenever it is possible, but if you walk into our studio during someone else's scheduled appointment time we may have to ask you to wait or return in order to receive service. We want to support you in all your piercing needs! Our appointment structure allows us to make sure that each and every client receives the standard of care that we strive to uphold at the Museum Of Living Arts.
If you're experiencing issues with a piercing, please give us a call so we can help arrange a solution promptly. You can book an appointment through the "Appointments" tab on our website or call us if you have questions.
3. Jewelry Handling
Please avoid handling your piercings or removing your jewelry in the studio. If you need help changing your jewelry, our piercers are happy to assist you in the procedure room in order to maintain our standards of hygiene.
4. Bringing Jewelry?
While our studio will not pierce with outside jewelry or change existing piercings to unsuitable jewelry, it's true that you can continue to use pieces purchased with us for a lifetime. If you have any questions about a piece's suitability in reference to any piercings we are more than happy to take a look at what you have as well. Please bring any jewelry in a clean, secure container (e.g., a plastic bag or small box). Avoid placing loose jewelry on counters or glass surfaces. This helps us prevent cross-contamination in our studio!
5. Tipping
Tipping is appreciated but not expected-you are welcome to tip if you would like to show your appreciation for the service.
6. Do I Need a Physician's Consent Form?
A physician's consent form is required if you have a medical condition that could affect your piercing or healing process. Please email us if you are in need of a consent form. You can bring your completed form with you at the time of your appointment, or you can have your physician complete the form and email it to us at museumoflivingarts@gmail.com.
7. What Are the Age Requirements?
Not every piercing is appropriate to every age! This bulleted list outlines our age requirements for the different types of piercings offered by our studio. Please note that we are unable to make exceptions to our policy where age is concerned, even with parental consent.
8. What Documents Should I Bring?
Body piercing in South Carolina is regulated by the SCDHEC. As such, the law requires that we collect certain identification in order to be able to perform piercings, including for minors. Below you'll find a list of I.D.'s we are allowed to accept as per South Carolina law.
